This Monday, May 20, the third heat wave of the season begins, with temperatures expected to exceed 45°C in this state.
Another heat wave is settling in the country, and very high temperatures are anticipated, according to the National Meteorological Service (SMN), the official climate source of the Government of Mexico.
Authorities from the Health and Civil Protection sectors have alerted the general population about the third heat wave that will impact Michoacán and other states in the country.
They warned that starting this Monday, May 20, the third heat wave of the season will begin, with temperatures expected to exceed 45°C in Michoacán.
According to SMN data, high temperatures will continue in the state, which could cause sunstroke, dehydration, or heat stroke.
Therefore, the Secretariat of Government, through the State Coordination of Civil Protection (CEPCM), is urging the population to take extreme precautions with the following recommendations:
– Avoid sun exposure from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
– Wear loose, light-colored, long-sleeved clothing
– Avoid intense physical activities under the sun
– Drink plain water, even if you are not thirsty, including at night
– Eat fresh foods, fruits, and vegetables
– Stay in the shade and cool places
– Use sunscreen (minimum SPF 15)
– Wear sunglasses and a cap or hat
– Avoid consuming alcoholic beverages
Additionally, the emergency number 9-1-1 is reiterated in case of emergencies.
Despite the high temperatures recorded in much of the state of Michoacán, no deaths from heat stroke have been reported.
