The National Emergency Commission (CNE) has declared a green alert for the entire Central and Southern Pacific zones of the country, as well as the Central Valley, due to recent rainfall. This declaration is in response to a low-pressure system in the Caribbean Sea near the coasts of Nicaragua, expected to create a humid and unstable pattern, reinforcing the activation of the Intertropical Convergence Zone and placing it over Costa Rica.
The CNE stated that until the next Sunday, November 19, the interaction of various atmospheric factors will favor coastal rains during nights and early mornings, along with isolated showers and storms in the afternoons, mainly in the Pacific regions.
According to the latest report from the National Meteorological Institute (IMN), conditions are conducive for this system to strengthen into a tropical depression as it moves northeast towards Jamaica, the eastern part of Cuba, and Haiti. Therefore, any influence of this system as a tropical cyclone is ruled out, as it would position itself in the Greater Antilles when such an event could occur.
