The World Health Organization (WHO) stated that scientific evidence indicated that the Covid-19 virus can be transmitted in any area, including those with hot and humid climates.
“Regardless of climatic conditions, protective measures should be adopted if living in an area where Covid-19 cases have been reported or if traveling to such areas. The best way to protect oneself from SARS-Cov-2 is to wash hands frequently. This eliminates viruses that may be on the hands and prevents infection that could occur by touching the eyes, mouth, and nose.”
In December 2023, the WHO classified JN.1 as a variant of interest due to its rapid spread and emphasized that vaccines continue to protect against the virus.
