- Price per liter of Super gasoline would be set at ₡725 Data provided by the refinery to Aresep for the tariff study opening
- For January, fuel prices could experience reductions, according to projections from the Costa Rican Oil Refinery (Recope).
The data that the state-owned company will contribute to the Public Services Regulatory Authority (Aresep) indicates that there could be a reduction of ₡17 in the price per liter of Super gasoline, ₡58 in the price per liter of diesel, and ₡75 in the price per liter of Regular.
This week, the new prices approved for December came into effect, which included reductions for Super gasoline and Diesel, and an increase for Regular. In an uncommon situation, the per-liter price of Super gasoline even ended up lower than that of Regular.
Now, with the projections for January, it is anticipated that the price per liter of Super gasoline will decrease from ₡742 to ₡725 (–₡17); that of Regular gasoline from ₡754 to ₡679 (–₡75), and that of Diesel from ₡691 to ₡633 (–₡58).
This Friday, the refinery will send the information to Aresep to open the corresponding tariff file for the January adjustment.
As is known, Recope does not set consumer prices because that is the exclusive competence of the regulatory entity.
The only thing the refinery does is to transfer the data and invoices for the imported fuels so that the Aresep Energy Intendancy can carry out the required studies.
