In the first quarter of 2025, the construction of three new overpasses will begin at the entrances of Greece, Naranjo, and San Ramón.
These two-level structures will connect to Route 1, aiming to make access to these western cantons safer and smoother.
The Ministry of Public Works and Transportation (MOPT) and the National Road Council (Conavi) have already published the tender notice for these projects.
“We are progressing with the projects Costa Rica needs by tendering these works on one of the country’s most important routes. We hope to issue the start order for these three interchanges in the first quarter of next year, which will undoubtedly improve the traffic flow and safety of these and other communities in the western sector,” said Mauricio Batalla, head of MOPT.
These interchanges will allow direct interconnection between these cantons and National Route 1, eliminating the current level crossings.
The project cost amounts to $24.2 million, financed through a loan from the Inter-American Development Bank.
