  • Diesel experienced the most significant price increase.

Starting this Thursday, drivers will have to spend more money to purchase gasoline, as the increase in the prices of all fuels came into effect at midnight, following its publication in the official gazette La Gaceta.

This is an increase ranging between 23 and 71 colones, which was applied after being approved by the Public Services Regulatory Authority (Aresep). Diesel experienced the most significant price increase among all fuels.

Super gasoline increased by 23 colones, costing 810 colones per liter. Regular gasoline increased by 36 colones, costing 780 colones per liter. Diesel increased by 71 colones, costing 705 colones per liter. The LP gas cylinder increased by 37 colones, costing 6,816 colones.

This adjustment corresponds to the extraordinary monthly adjustment for the month of September.

Why the Increase?

Alejandra Morales, the Energy Superintendent, explained that this increase is due to cuts in supply by Russia and Saudi Arabia, economic recovery in the United States and China (which has led to higher demand for hydrocarbons), and a reduction in global inventories.
