The Costa Rican Social Security Fund’s (CCSS) Directorate of Architecture and Engineering (DAI) has recommended Promotora y Desarrolladora Mexicana de Infraestructura S.A. de C.V. for the construction contract of the new hospital in Cartago, valued at approximately $290 million. The recommendation confirms the company’s eligibility in terms of financial, legal, administrative, and technical aspects.
The new hospital project had faced obstacles and criticism from the government regarding the site’s suitability. However, subsequent technical studies proved the viability of the proposed location. The project’s continuity was initially halted along with 57 other investment projects, but the hospital’s construction was later prioritized for continuation, assuring its significance for the community.
From a financial perspective, the CCSS’s Financial Management had already approved the project’s viability since 2022, paving the way for its progress. Despite internal challenges, the hospital project has now advanced with the technical recommendation, signaling a positive step towards better healthcare infrastructure in the region.
