In its twelfth edition, the Leisure Lifestyle Awards recognized Panama for the third consecutive year as the “Best Leisure Destination” in Latin America and South America. This award, organized by the American magazine Global Traveler, annually recognizes the performance of tourist destinations and brands in the leisure, luxury, and lifestyle travel segments.

Panama was recognized by the readers of Global Traveler magazine for its vibrant culture, captivating biodiversity, and impressive architecture, winning in this category over destinations like Bogotá, Buenos Aires, Montevideo, and Mendoza. The magazine has highlighted hiking, gastronomy, water sports, and visits to indigenous communities on the shores of the Chagres River as among the most interesting activities.

The publication also recommends a 10-day stay to experience our country fully, according to the statement from Panama’s destination marketing organization (DMO), Promtur.

Jennifer Janson, marketing director of Promtur, who attended the awards ceremony in Pennsylvania, United States, thanked all Panamanians for this award given to the destination. “We are excited and proud of this distinction that once again recognizes Panama as the best destination in the region, thanks to the richness of our culture, biodiversity, and natural beauty,” she highlighted.

This Leisure Lifestyle Awards prize adds to the chain of recognitions that the country has received in the last three years, including TripAdvisor’s “Best of the Best 2024” awards in the categories of trending destinations to visit this year and best international gastronomic destinations.

Global Traveler is a U.S.-based publisher with more than 500,000 readers, primarily of high purchasing power.

To select the winners, the publisher conducted a survey of its readers from July 15, 2023, to March 8, 2024, with open-ended questions to recognize the best in various categories from leisure, luxury, and lifestyle travel.
