It was more than six hours of conversation that school leaders in the Ngäbe Buglé Region and teachers held with the High-Level Commission led by the Minister of Education to reach important agreements regarding the construction of modular classrooms.

“They haven’t taught classes, up to today, it’s been seven weeks of lost classes because the roofs of the classrooms collapsed and classes cannot be held there,” said Felicia Montezuma, a mother.

On the other hand, the Minister of Education, Maruja Gorday, pointed out that they have already taken a step in the right direction towards the allocation and transportation of materials to the region.

Parents and educators in this hard-to-reach area threaten to close the Inter-American Highway and are still waiting for a clear schedule to be established so that this project can be implemented and these schools, which have been closed for months, can be delivered.

As a result of this meeting, leaders signed an agreement with the Minister of Education establishing a roadmap to continue discussing educational issues.
