A green alert due to recent updates on atmospheric conditions in Panama was declared on the evening of Friday, April 26 by the National Civil Protection System (Sinaproc).
The alert, which came into effect at 8:00 p.m., is for all provinces and regions of the country. This is due to the rains occurring in various areas.
With this declaration, preventive measures are increased against possible risks of flooding and other situations.
According to the Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology of Panama, for Saturday, April 27 and Sunday, April 28, “rainfall accumulations” of between 50 to 100 mm are expected over the western Pacific, Azuero Peninsula, Colón, and Panama Oeste.
For the rest of the country, rainfall of 40 to 70 mm is forecasted. Additionally, the institute anticipates that rainfall could increase significantly in the coming hours.
