The sixth Festival of the Congo Pollera will take place on April 13th in the district of Portobelo in the province of Colón.
It is expected that this event will bring together 27 folkloric groups and artisans with the aim of rescuing and promoting the Congo culture, which was designated by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. The Minister of Culture, Giselle González Villarrué, pointed out that this year the Festival will have the theme “Between skirts and drums.”

Present at the event were the Secretary General of the Ministry of Culture (MiCultura), Ismael Herrera; the administrator of the Panama Tourism Authority (ATP), Denisse Guillén; the vice president of the Patronato, Victoriana Zúñiga; the queen of the Congo Pollera, Delia Barrera, among others. The event will feature various activities and stage performances by the Congo groups, as well as a gastronomic fair, crafts, institution pavilions, etc.
